Fireworks

Glowing stars penetrate the darkness
Silence is ruptured as explosions sound
Overwhelmingly beautiful array of light
Shadows are removed from the vicinity

Gloomy clouds of gunpowder hang overhead
Nostrils are filled with the wretched odor
Yet eyes are still immovable from the display above
Cheers seem to be whispers alongside the explosions

Animals whimper and whine at the sound
Not knowing what is taking place
Allthough its a celebration
They sit in fear, dreading what will happen next

Silence is returned unscathed
Darkness creeps back to every corner
All that is left is the stars up in the expance of space
Which are now shunned from the onlookers
Since the show is over they scurry away
